About Derek

Derek spent over 20 years in the hospitality leadership industry, where he developed his passion for working with people and the skill sets that cater to business growth and customer satisfaction. Derek has translated his wealth of experience as a business leader to benefit clients in real estate transactions. While he knows Northern Virginia incredibly well, having lived in this area since 1998, Derek has also called Richmond and Fredericksburg home and has extensive knowledge in these and other areas.  

Derek is passionate about making home ownership a reality for first time home buyers. He is also well versed in military relocation (a military spouse), investment and vacation properties (a West Virginia expert), and “fixer uppers” (an experienced renovator).

Derek closely tracks the current market while also staying on top of the latest financial reports and forecasts. Derek loves where he lives and turns that love into action in his community.  Derek believes in giving back, paying it forward, and community stewardship.  Each year, Derek proudly supports and participates with organizations such as The St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, The Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department, Fairfax County Police Department, The American Red Cross, Rebuild Together, ASPCA, Fairfax County Park Authority, Inova Hospital Systems, and many more.

When Derek isn’t helping people locate their dream homes, he enjoys staying active outdoors and working on his vacation property in the West Virginia mountains.  You will also find he and his wife spending time with rescue dogs and supporting their beloved Washington Capitals.
